The word authority refers to power. It means the actual power to exercise dominion and influence over another being, or the potential for such power. The word might means the same, and the word right means being granted the qualification to do as one wills. When Jesus came to this earth and was teaching the people and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes, together with the elders, came near and asked Him: tell us by what authority You are doing these things, and who gave You this authority.
