People spoke of the temple adorned with beautiful stones and donations, of its beauty and its scale. The temple, raised with long and careful labor, looked as though it would not easily be shaken, and the pride of the nation that possessed that building was great. But Jesus pointed to the very temple people were marveling at and said, “These things which you see—the days will come in which not one stone shall be left upon another that shall not be thrown down” (Luke 21:6). To men’s eyes the solid stones came into view first, but the Lord knew the day those stones would fall and even what would follow after.
