After Christmas we come to hold the service that sees off the old year and welcomes the new. Then this year passes and we greet the new year. A year has gone by as if we had taken one day’s nap. How quickly it has passed—while we fretted and bustled over our work, this year has already drawn to its close. I believe next year will pass even faster. The year after will be faster still, and the year after that faster yet, and rushing on without pause, I believe we will meet the Lord. Looking back, we have worked much and been busy with much, but the time has passed truly quickly.
