When the trees sprout, a man knows summer is near without checking the calendar again. The change before his eyes tells him the season has drawn near. Jesus did not speak of one fig tree only but told us to look at all the trees, and said that when the things He had spoken of before appear, we are to know that the kingdom of God is near. The signs the Lord spoke of tell us that the kingdom of God is actually drawing near and that His word is surely fulfilled.
