As the continuing signs of the end, Jesus spoke of wars between nations and kingdoms, great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various places, and fearful sights and great signs from heaven. These signs show that the world fallen in sin is not eternal and is moving toward the judgment of God and the second coming of Jesus. Wars and disasters existed before as well, but as the last days draw near, worldwide confusion and fear grow, and people become so afraid, thinking of what is coming upon the world, that their hearts fail them.
